Shhh, I'm thinking.

I'm quiet, introverted (whatever you want to call it). I always have been. It's who I am and I imagine it's probably who I'll always be. And guess what-- I'm just fine with it.

Why, though, do some people assume that "quiet" girls are either (a) stuck up or (b) without a personality. I've been accused of both.

1. I'm not stuck up. Quite the contrary. I like people and will talk with anyone that wants to talk to me. But I'm probably not going to initiate the conversation- it doesn't mean that I don't like you at all, it means I'm shy. But if you are talking to me, trust me I'm listening to you.

and this one bugs me the most . . .

2. I actually do have a personality. Trust me, I'm hilarious (well, maybe just to Grant and a few other close friends)! Here's the deal-- I got to know you a little before I regale you with my humor (or loyalty for that matter). But once you are my friend, you will be blinded by my sparkling personality (just kidding- I'm probably a little bit more on the twisty side). But just because I don't have to be the center of attention in every situation or thrive on the sound of my own voice does NOT MEAN I LACK IN PERSONALITY. We just have to get to know each other a little better.

Okay, I think I'm done.

I wrote this post because I was repeatedly asked awhile ago if "I was okay" because I wasn't making mindless conversation with a group of women. Yes, I was just fine- didn't have anything of substance to add, so I didn't say anything. Had to eventually make up a story so they would leave me alone. These are the same people that cut me off mid-sentence while I was talking, so yeah, I can tell they really cared about what I was saying.

It takes all kinds to make the world go 'round. I just happen to be on the quieter side of life.

Girl, I know how you feel! I went through a season where it seemed like everyone was asking me, "Are you okay?" It about drove me bananas. I may have said to someone, "Well, I would be okay if folks stopped asking me!"

When I have something to say, I say it. When I don't, I keep quiet. Really simple. Doesn't mean I'm not engaged. It just means I have nothing substantial to add at the moment.

I stopped apologizing for my quiet personality a long time ago. God made me this way for a reason. He doesn't make any mistakes. End of story.

I hear that. It's who we are. I'm fine with me, why can't other people be?

You know what God has to say on the issue don'tcha? Women should have a gentle and quiet spirit- don't have anything of value to add to the conversation then don't add it! I think you are just ahead of the learning curve on this one! :) Props to you my friend!
