16 Weeks

This week has brought the most significant change so far! We felt the baby move this week! Very small, soft "kicks." S/he was going at it for awhile, so Grant got to get in on the action. Pretty cool. Mind you it was very faint and I really only feel it at certain times of the day, but I'm pretty sure it was the baby moving.
I think this week Grant definitely can tell a difference in my appearance. It's obvious if you know what I normally look like. Probably still not very obvious to the masses though.

Only strange thing this week is insomnia. I'm up at 3:00 in the morning and at 6:00 in the morning for a couple of hours total. It's making me mad, because I need sleep to function and I don't know why I'm waking up.
Otherwise, everything is going great!

15 Weeks

It's a rough picture of me, but a good shot of the growing Baby L.

This week was very similar to last. I have had no more nosebleeds this week which has been nice. But, I have been waking up at 3:30 in the morning, which I could do without! Other than that, everything is going well.

We have another ultrasound scheduled in January, to make sure that everything is progressing normally. We are excited about that.

I have also finally nailed down a birthing class. It took many e-mails, but we finally found one that will fit into our tight, one free day a week, schedule! Yay!

One More Down

Another Christmas present for another niece--
I changed it up by adding a ruffle bottom to the pillowcase dress.

I just love the colors- bright and fun!

Hmm. . .

Is it too late to send out Christmas cards?

What I Learned Today

We went to the doctor today and everything looks good! Here's what I learned today:

The heartbeat is strong, high heels are not good while pregnant, I'm measuring right where I am supposed to, I am eating plenty of beans and nuts, I should feel the baby move by my next appointment, I need to get moving on booking a birthing method class, I need to eat more colored varieties of fruits and vegetables, I get plenty of exercise, I'm on my last days of being able to squeeze into my slimming black, pre-pregnancy work pants, I need to take Vitamin C to help with the nose bleeds, my blood is, quite literally, sluggish in the morning, my vitamin D level is finally up and at an excellent level, twisting movements are okay while exercising, your doing well if you can do 100 kegal exercises a day, and last but not least- 10 oz. of orange, tangy glucose drink at 7:30 in the morning is not as bad as I had drudged it up to be in my mind!

That's a lot squeezed into a 40 min. appt.

Grant and I have decided not to find out the sex of the baby. Well, poor Grant is dying to know, but being the most considerate husband of all, he is acquiescing to my wishes!

I've had several predictions lately. I myself am in a quandary. I think it's a girl, but when I dream about it it's a boy. I've had two people look at me and say boy. My midwife thinks it's a girl. The Chinese gender prediction calendar says girl.

Well, the good news is it's one or the other.

14 Weeks

So, 14 weeks has come and gone.

I most definitely have a stomach now! It doesn't look like much in the photograph, but believe me the pre-pregnancy clothes do not fit anymore. I have a few maternity clothes right now and will be getting more for Christmas. It is very strange to only have 3 outfits to choose from. In fact, I can honestly say that getting ready to go anywhere is a pain in the rear.

Still feeling great this week. I have definitely gotten some energy back, which has been helpful in keeping me accountable to my old friend, the treadmill. Was even able to jog/run a mile straight (hadn't been able to do that for awhile).

The nose bleeds and stuffy nose has increased this week. At one point, I was getting nose bleeds 1 to 2 times a day. Nice. I'll take a nosebleed over morning sickness any day though!

I can't think of anything else going on. We are starting to get really excited and will be putting the nursery together during the Christmas holidays!

Cards, Cards, Cards

I am finished with the last craft fair of the season! And I'm so glad that the pressure of "creating" is almost over! I have a few sewing things left to make for Christmas, but no more cards for awhile! The good news is I have lots of cards left over. The bad news is I have lots of cards left over! Actually, leftovers are fine, because they make great gifts for people and I can use them for years to come.

AND . . .

I can give away some cards to a lucky reader. Check my next post for a giveaway! Maybe I can get some of my silent readers to say HI in the comments section!

Our First Real Purchase

I preface this by saying that I'm a little weird and I know it.

I have looked on Craigslist for baby stuff for months and months and months (way before I was pregnant). Always hoping that I would find that perfect must have, can't beat the price item.

Well folks, I have a crib from my sister and baby/kids furniture from my mom. So what is left furniture wise-- a changing table of course.

I knew that I could find a perfectly used, perfectly colored, perfectly designed, perfectly priced changing table if I kept my eye out. And. I. Did. Here's the thing- I did not want to spend a lot of money on a piece of furniture that is limited in use, so Craigslist is where I had to shop.

And here it is.
I love it. It's unique, sturdy, white and hardly used.
And the best part was that it was only $40.

Clearly, Misty Grey has other ideas for this piece of furniture.

Oh, and the lady I bought it from threw in lots of little goodies, and lots of extra diapers! Nice.

13 Week Update

Part of the reason I wanted to "do" this blog was to journal my experiences with pregnancy and raising a baby. So, almost a year and some months later, I finally get to write my first pregnancy post. Yay!

This 13 week picture was taken on Thanksgiving, so really the pooch could be half baby and/or turkey and stuffing. I choose to believe it is baby.

13 week update

Overall, I have felt great so far. So, these symptoms I mention are not too bothersome or annoying, just things that are different for me.

This week and last week has left me a little baffled-- I am more tired now then at the beginning of this pregnancy. I mean drop dead tired. Grant and I both go to bed no later than 10:30 now (used to be 11:00), but I can take a two hour nap and still go to bed at 9:15 lately. Hmm, hoping this fatigue will pass soon. It sorta cramps my lifestyle. And you don't have to remind me how tired I'll be once the baby is here. I know. Well, not first hand, but I know.

Let's see- other symptoms. I've had too many nosebleeds to count. Thankfully, they are not horrendous, but still.

The acne is toning down a bit. Yeah, that's been fun. I'm just going productless right now (except for mineral makeup).

Not a lot of weight gain yet. I can still wear my old clothes, albeit they are tight around the waistband. Haven't worn a belt in weeks now- kind've cool- belts make my outfits lumpy.

Still getting short of breath walking up stairs and such. Hoping that will pass soon too. I'm in decent shape, so it's weird getting tired at the littlest efforts.

Grant and I made our first "real" purchase together (I admit that I have bought some onesies and sleepers already). Well, let me rephrase, I saw it on Craigslist, bought it and dragged Grant out to get it (he really had no say). I have been searching for months for it and I kept waiting for the right one. Silly, I know, but I didn't want to settle. Anyway, I'll devote a whole post to that purchase later.

That's all that I can think of this week. We go back to the doctor on December 15.
