I had been listening to the Elm Creek Quilters book series (well that and walking by the Pottery Barn display window) and was inspired to make a quilt. I am somewhat of a novice when it comes to sewing, but with a little internet research and those 3rd grade sewing lessons resurfacing, I was able to pull this off:
I rather like it. I'm in love with the fabric (don't really care for the traditional "baby" fabric prints), so this quilt makes for a bold baby blanket statement. The fabric is from Moda and is the Arcadia series. I went with a charm pack (variety of precut 5 x 5 inch blocks).
Misty Grey helped me decide the pattern.
This is the pattern she decided on:
It's finished.
I used a soft flannel for the backing. It quilted up real nice.
Since it's my first, I think I'll keep this one. At least the cats will enjoy it.

Beautiful! And it's kitty-approved! ;-)
I love the quilt, you never cease to amaze me. I'm glad you are feeing better. The baby blanket is adorable too. The next time you come over I will have to show you the quilt that I cut out and put together. I didn't actually sew it together, some little old ladies in Wendell did that for me.
Sherri :)
You're so talented! I love the fabric :)
I love the pattern and colors! Great job!
it's beautiful!! i can see the cats helped along the way.
I just now noticed that all three of my cats have made it in this post. They are suckers for any type of fabric. They get very mad when I have to lock them out of the art room while I lay things out!
