Owl Pillow

We got our glider in this week! It is, however, not the most comfortable chair I've ever sat in. It needed just a little extra padding for the lower back so, a pillow was in order. More specifically, an owl pillow was very much in order!

I bought the brown fabric and the polka dot fabric, but used scraps for the rest of him. I appliqued him onto the brown fabric. Total cost $6.00. Not a bad investment.

Since I used batting instead of a pillow, it is very soft and gives just enough support to the back.

28 and 29 Weeks

(29 Weeks)

(28 Weeks)

These past two weeks have been very good. I'm really feeling the baby move a lot. Lots of rolling type movements. Lots of fun! S/he is head down, so we want to make sure that s/he stays that way.
We've got the nursery almost done and I can't wait to post pictures. Just finished an owl pillow for the glider, and it is pretty cute!
That's it.

Call It Sleep by Henry Roth

The name just about sums up the book. I found this book terribly boring and long. I listened to it on tape (I couldn't have read that thing if you paid me), so it was 15 min. here and 15 min. there, which made for a long listen.

This is a book about a recent immigration of a Jewish family to America in the early part of the twentieth century. The problem with this novel was not the story line, but the fact that I disliked every single main character. The main character, David, a 6 year old boy was whiny and such a momma's boy that it made me sick. The father was cruel and abusive. The mother aided in David's "babyness" and coddled him way too much. Yuck. How can you like a book when you dislike every character?

This was just not interesting to me at all. At all. So glad it's done.

I am here . . . I just can't breathe

Oh dear. It has been awhile since any updating, crafting, and life sharing has taken place.

I am on day 10 of a cold that, while not bad, has left me unable to breathe. I am trying like mad not to become addicted to Affrin (which is, quite clearly, a miracle medicine from God except for its satan-like abilities to become highly addicted). It has been tough. And I sound ridiculous. And I am now very annoyed.

I've got lots of pics to upload- a finished quilt for a friend with the most fun fabrics. Pics of growing Baby L. Pics of a long-awaited yard project.

Anyway, I will upload the pics soon and start updating.

Any natural nasal decongestant ideas safe for pregnancy would be appreciated.

What's going on . . .

Nothing much to report.

I'm working on a quilt for a friend who is due one day after me! I love the fabric, so it has been fun to create this week. Can't wait to show some pics.

I'm at work right now (but finished proofing a brief), so I thought I'd stop in and say hello.

I'm getting fat- even some of my maternity clothes are getting a wee bit tight. hmmm.

I created baby registries for my upcoming showers. That was fun. I realized how very lucky I am to have so many hand me down items. From Boppys to cribs, clothes to toys. Nice.

I just finished dancing at two events this past week-- I only gave one person a heart attack!

I'm fighting like heck not to let this sore throat turn into a full blown cold- remedies include, lymph node massage, coconut oil, garlic pills, salt water gargles, lemon/honey concoctions and zinc. I hope I'm winning 'cause I got lots to do this week.

I have finally narrowed my search down for a pediatrician's office. It is a large office with several locations. I've heard lots of good things about them and will be attending our "pre baby" orientation meeting this Friday. This has made me feel a little more grown up lately.

I think that's about it. Talk to you all soon!

26 and 27 Weeks

(27 Weeks)

(26 Weeks)

I did not realize that I had failed to post a 26 weeker. Both 26 and 27 weeks were about the same though. I've gotten more energy back this week, but still can unashamedly go to bed at 9:30.

Baby L has taken to acrobatics these past two weeks. Still no kicks that take my breath away or anything, but enough to feel some rolling around.

I can't believe that I have to start seeing the midwives every two weeks now. It's crazy how fast these last few weeks have flown by. Yay for the third trimester!

We bought a travel system and glider this week. We rocked it on the glider and used a 20% off coupon on the travel system, so I'm pretty pleased with our purchases so far. Nursery is almost complete, so I'll be able to post some pics soon.

That's it! Welcome third trimester!

Stuffed Owl

Here is a picture of the stuffed owl I made last week. I think he's pretty cute.

I looked at stuffed owls on the Internet and then came up with my own pattern. I was able to use leftover material from my stash. I appliqued the eyes, wings, beak and feet onto it.

I also put one of my cat's old bell toys in it, so it rattles when you shake it.

I think I'll make him an owl companion- only bigger.
