She's like her momma

This is my fat cat, Sadie.

She does not like people food EXCEPT for two things-- yogurt and Krispy Kreme.
That's right, Krispy Kreme makes her purr.

She's just like her momma.

Sunday Chores . . . With My Cat

It's kind've hard to do laundry when your furball decides to take over the basket. And lawdy mercy, she's so cute that I just can't disturb her. This cat makes a beeline for the laundry basket every time I take a new load out to fold. She proceeds to burrow herself in the clothes and swats at my hand when I try to take clothes out from under her. Eventually, I find her in the pile.

So, because she's stole my heart with her cuteness, I just leave her alone. I'm sure I can find something more productive to do . . . like watch t.v. or blog about her cuteness. After all, laundry can always wait.

Resolutions . . . No thanks. Goals . . . sure.

I have never been one for resolutions. Ever. Can't thing of a single resolution I have ever made. And I don't know why I don't make 'em-- there are always ways to make my lifestyle better/healthier/happier, etc. And, I am actually good about finishing what I start, but for some reason I just don't make them.

However, my GOALS for this year (because, didn't you know, a goal is so not like a resolution?!) are as follows:

*Figure out a budget and stick to it (Grant's and my goal). We are not really budget people. We hardly spend extraneous money, and we generally know where our money is going, but we've never sat down and actually, gasp, budgeted.

*Live off of one salary and put the rest in savings. Lofty goal-- we might as well get used to it though. And if we can make it through these economic times, than we have a shot at this.

*Take baby steps in obtaining and eating the most natural foods as possible. I could go on and on about this. Part of our budgeting will be figuring out what natural foods I can splurge on. Oh, didn't you know- I'm in love with pasture fed, hormone free chickens and the precious eggs they produce. Don't roll your eyes . . . I can see you.

*Help my cats lose weight. Oh, my sweet little Sadie is a rather plump cat. She spends every waking moment consumed with the thought of her tasty little morsels of food. I'm serious people. It's bad and her cries are enough to drive me batty. I've already cut back on their food intake and it has helped some. I saw a biggest loser like competition for animals and thought about entering her, but then quickly thought that she might never recover from having to be weighed in front of her feline peers. She's sensitive like that.

*Improve my herb and vegetable garden. I'm itching to get it started again. Can't wait for March to roll around. I adore having basil, rosemary and tomatoes at my fingertips. Grant and I also want to landscape our backyard a bit. It's not feeling the love right now. Of course, that might change when I'm by myself on a Saturday and it's 100 degrees outside. Then I might throw this goal out the window.

*Try to live as plastic free as possible. I'm trying to build my stash of glass food containers this year and slowly get rid of all my plastic tupperware. Just something I want to do.

*Be able to do a sidesplit. Yep, my lifelong goal has been to do a sidesplit. Will this be the year?

So those are some of my more loftier goals.

What are some of your goals this year?

Cats and a bag

My cats, like most, love bags.

This is Casper enjoying a few quiet minutes in a new found bag.

This is Sadie-- "Hey Casper, whacha doing? Looks like your having a nice few moments for yourself?"

Casper, newly interrupted by Sadie, quickly escapes. "So much for a few quiet minutes to myself."

This is Sadie again-- she's discovered the bag. If it is good enough for Casper it is most definitely good enough for her.

This is Casper. "Hey Sadie, whacha doing? It looks like you are having fun."

And the cycle goes on and on.

Misty Grey thought about going in too, but she feels that she is above such obvious nonsense as hiding in a bag.

My Monkey Heads

So, since I do not have kids right now I transfer all my motherly instincts to my three cats. I cannot help it and yes, I am one cat away from being the “crazy cat lady.” Let me introduce you to my “monkey heads” as I like to call them.

This is Sadie

She is a beautiful, green-eyed, velvety soft, slightly rounded, vocal, large, gun-metal gray, pleasantly plump, loud kitty cat. I love her-- did I mention she is large and vocal.

She likes to wake us up at 5:00 in the morning just to remind me that it will be breakfast time in 3 hours. I love her. She follows me EVERYWHERE I go, just in the hopes that I might give her a treat or better yet feed her a little early. Yep, she is a sweetie. She fights with her big brother and lets out the most horrendous, blood curdling, ear piercing, banshee mimicking screams at 3:00 in the morning. Yep, that is always fun to wake up to. That’s my girl. She has a fascination with cups of water. She must dunk her head into any open container of water and drink lavishly, as if it sweet nectar from the gods. And when she’s done, she will then bat the cup of water so that it spills everywhere, as if to say, “hah, cup of water, I am Sadie and I am in control here.” (This is why I have resorted to water bottles). She swats, bats and tries to bite me when I sing really loudly and according to her out of tune (me, really, no). And yet, I love her still.

Ahh, sweet nectar from the gods . . .

What? It's not my fault you left your cup out. Silly human.
